The Automated Insights Team

We’re a team of highly skilled software and machine learning engineers based out of Amsterdam. Our team builds an ecosystem of machine learning services and data pipelines to automatically extract insights about competitors from public and internal data sources. We use our ML models to analyze millions of news articles, social media posts, product reviews, and user actions every day. This work involves a wide range of ML techniques, like classification, clustering, recommendation, and vector search.

As a team, we...

  • have a weekly reading group to discuss new ML developments and papers.
  • code review all changes, pay down technical debt and aim for high automated test coverage.
  • value people who take initiative and empower others to make a real change in the product or processes.
  • organize regular hackathons and love prototyping ambitious ideas.
  • organize regular team activities (e.g., canal boat rides).

What, specifically, are we working on?

  • a recommender system for personalized updates about competitors
  • automatic extraction of strengths and weaknesses from product reviews
  • online clustering of millions of news articles per day
  • a set of automated pipelines for data collection and continuous model training/deployment

What skills do you bring?

  • you have solid proven experience with general-purpose programming languages
  • you are proficient with popular ML frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, Hugging Face, or Tensorflow
  • you have experience solving NLP-related problems like classification, clustering, recommendation, or topic modeling
  • you are proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • you have experience with (non)relational databases
  • you can make architectural decisions for future projects
  • you've worked in agile, iterative development, can estimate scope & prioritize

What about compensation & benefits?

  • We gather compensation benchmarking data across Canada’s and Europe's Tech Industry, and use that data to build a range for our current team and future talent based on skill, capabilities and potential.
  • Total compensation for this position can range from 65,000-120,000 EUR based on level of experience, skill, and capacities. So there is always continued conversation around compensation.
  • We offer unlimited vacation. We want the team to prioritize wellness and avoid burnout. We want to also give individuals autonomy to choose how and when they take vacation. We understand and respect that everyone’s needs for time off are different, just like our team.
  • We are contributing to a pension fund for you.
  • We offer yearly fully-paid trips to our Vancouver headquarters.
  • We offer free access to an online learning tool offering many engineering courses.

What technologies do we use?

  • We believe in using whatever tools make sense to get the job done and support our game-changing innovation.
  • Among others, we use Python, Transformers, Pytorch, Hugging Face, Spacy, Sklearn, Pinecone, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, BentoML, Aporia, JS, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, GCP, BigQuery, Docker/Kubernetes, Github
